NEXT GENERATION COBOT PALLETISERS: INTRODUCING THE AX20 AND AX30 FROM ROBOTIQ
Robotiq’s AX20 and AX30 palletising solutions, utilising Universal Robots’ UR20 and UR30 cobots, are designed for higher payloads and increased flexibility in automation.
Robotiq has announced the launch of its latest palletising solutions, the AX20 and AX30, which leverage Universal Robots’ UR20 and UR30 collaborative robots (cobots). These new models are designed to handle higher payloads, up to 30 kilograms, and offer enhanced flexibility and performance for various palletising applications.
The UR20 and UR30 models feature a new joint architecture that reduces component complexity by 50% and integrates a combined multi-connector cable for power and communication. This redesign results in up to a 25% increase in speed and improved robustness, making these cobots suitable for demanding industrial environments.
Robotiq’s approach to palletising, termed Lean Robotics, emphasises flexibility and performance without compromising reliability. The AX series is designed with a lift mechanism to increase reach and pallet height capabilities. This allows for a broader range of applications, including those requiring taller pallets or more extensive reach, such as palletising on a stretch wrapper.
The AX20 and AX30 models are compact, occupying three to four times less space than traditional industrial palletisers, making them suitable for factories with limited floor space. Additionally, these cobots offer a faster deployment time, with a typical turnaround from order to production in four to eight weeks.
Robotiq’s palletising software is optimised for Universal Robots’ cobots, providing dynamic trajectory calculations and collision modelling to enhance performance and reduce power consumption. This software also allows for easy customisation and integration with existing factory systems, ensuring that the palletisers can meet specific operational requirements.
Robotiq is set to begin shipping the AX20 and AX30 models in July, available in the UK from Robotiq Expert Partner RARUK Automation.
