Proud to be supporting a local school’s Football Academy
Samuel Whitbread Academy is on impressive form with both its First and Development football teams defending positions at the top of their respective AOC College Leagues; the First Team is currently top and the Development Team, second.
To help bolster this success, both teams have recently received funding from local engineering company, RARUK Automation Ltd. This sponsorship helps the school’s Football Academy to buy kit and training equipment and cover expenses such as League membership and referee fees.
“We are delighted that RARUK Automation has chosen to support the Samuel Whitbread Academy,” commented Jason Goldman, the school’s Director of Football and PE teacher. “This funding will help us to encourage students of both genders and all ages to train with more specific focus.”
The Development Team has had success in the national ESFA competition for B teams and has a quarter final match approaching against a school from Crystal Palace in London. The First team begins its District Cup defence with a match against Stratton Upper School and has its sights on winning the District Cup for the 5th year in a row.
The All Girls’ sides have also fared well in the county competitions with the U14, U15 and U16’s still going strong in their respective county cup competitions. The U15 Girls side reached the last 16 in the country, losing 3-2 in their long away fixture to Norwich.
