In June 2015, before RARUK Automation officially launched as a standalone company, a strategic partnership was formed between MAFU Automation and R. A. Rodriguez (UK) Limited —the long-established engineering distributor from which RARUK Automation later emerged.
There are eight companies under the MAFU Group today. Together, these companies offer a range of solutions with a ‘one-stop-shop’ approach to automation. Spring Disentangling Systems
MAFU‘s patented disentangling system provides the customer with a reliable system that allows efficient, gentle disentangling of small parts delivered in bulk. The system is suitable for parts such as springs, pins and wire bent parts. By combining it with other MAFU product groups, complete production processes can be automated seamlessly.
How Do MAFU Spring Disentangling Systems Work?
The parts are bulk fed via a tunnel into the disentangling system’s drum. The drum’s rotational movement disentangles the parts, and they are brought to one or several tubes/ lanes. Then, the linear motion of the tubes and their special baffles align the parts into the desired position, to be separated and presented.
Typically, the parts are fed one-at-a-time. To increase throughput, more tubes/ lanes can be added – with up to 32 possible on the largest model. Output per lane varies, based on the model, between 40 – 60 parts per minute. Springs can be fed directly into production for a fully automated assembly process.
What Are Typical Applications of Spring Disentangling Systems?
Typical customers and industries include spring manufacturers who use the system to separate springs before they are directly fed into other stages of production, such as grinding. Spring disentangling machines are also popular in the medical device sector, where springs are commonly used in autoinjectors. Other typical applications include general assembly operations, as well as lock and door handle assembly and Tier 2 automotive component manufacturing.
