FlexiVision One Q&A with Alec Jackson, Systems Sales Manager at RARUK Automation
ARS Automation, manufacturer of FlexiBowl® flexible part feeding systems, recently unveiled FlexiVision One, an intuitive, smart vision system for part picking. Alec Jackson, Systems Sales Manager at RARUK Automation, answers some quick questions about FlexiVision One, including how it will benefit end-users and integrators.
FlexiVision One is available in the UK from RARUK Automation.
What is FlexiVision One?
FlexiVision One is the newest generation of FlexiVision software, designed as a true plug‑and‑play solution for operators who are unfamiliar with vision systems or have no previous programming experience. It provides smart robot guidance for the FlexiBowl and is compatible with nearly all major robot brands.
What is included with FlexiVision One?
FlexiVision One is supplied as a complete, ready‑to‑use package, including a Cognex camera with lens and appropriate filter, a vision controller, a calibration kit and FlexiVision One software. The software also features simplified tools such as automatic part‑based tuning to streamline setup.
How do you program FlexiVision One?
Programming is done through an intuitive, guided workflow. The system walks you through calibrating the camera and robot to the FlexiBowl surface. It also guides you through training new component parts using automatic part‑based tuning. Then, system performance is verified via a built‑in traffic‑light status indicator. This step‑by‑step approach ensures fast, reliable configuration without requiring vision expertise.
What problems does FlexiVision One solve?
Earlier versions of FlexiVision required specialised knowledge and could be challenging to configure. FlexiVision One eliminates this complexity by providing a single, unified solution that manages all elements of the system – the FlexiBowl, vision system and hopper – making integration and configuration significantly faster and easier.
How many feeding systems can FlexiVision One manage?
FlexiVision One can control up to 3 FlexiBowls and up to 3 robots, across all operating modes.
How will FlexiVision One benefit end-users?
FlexiVision One enables fast, repeatable and error‑free operation thanks to step‑by‑step guided setup, integrated recipes, automatic tuning, as well as rapid changeovers and easy addition of new parts. This reduces downtime and removes the need for deep vision‑system knowledge.
What are the advantages of FlexiVision One for integrators?
Integrators benefit from faster setup and configuration, lower integration costs, higher project margins and shorter delivery times. FlexiVision One offers compatibility with a wide range of industrial robots and PLCs via standard communication protocols.
